Lone Wanderers Welcome: F2P MMOs You Can Play Solo
No guild, no group, no problem. Six free-to-play MMOs that let you walk your own road, and how to help us rank them.
Pack light, adventurer. Massively multiplayer doesn't have to mean always multiplayer. Some of the best F2P MMOs let you level, gear up and see the whole story without waiting on anyone.
Here are six that welcome lone wanderers.
The road alone
- **Old School RuneScape** and **RuneScape**: skilling, questing and plenty of bossing work alone. Both even offer Ironman modes, where you can't trade with other players at all. Everything you own, you earned.
- **Warframe**: set your matchmaking to Solo and run missions on your own terms.
- **Star Wars: The Old Republic**: every class has its own fully voiced story, played out in areas built for one.
- **Dungeons & Dragons Online**: many quests offer a Solo difficulty, tuned for a single adventurer.
- **Secret World Legends**: its story missions and investigations are made for one player. Save the dungeons for when friends turn up.
What about the group stuff?
Raids, dungeons and big PvP battles still want company. But in every game above, you can play for weeks before you need anyone. When you're ready, the groups will still be there.
Help us rank them
Our Best Solo F2P MMOs list ranks games by the "Solo-friendly" score in player ratings, and it's still waiting for its first votes. Played one of these alone? Rate it, give it a Solo-friendly score, and the list fills in the moment your vote lands. You earn VOID for every rating, too.
