How to Set Up Raid-Helper for MMO Guild Raids and Events

Raid-Helper is the sign-up bot most MMO guilds end up using: members pick their class and role on an event post, and everyone sees the time in their own time zone. Here is how to get it running in a guild Discord.

Before you start

  • You need the Manage Server permission on your Discord (owners and admins have it).
  • Make a channel for events, such as #raids or #events, so sign-ups don't get buried in chat.
  • Decide who may create events: usually officers and raid leaders.

Add the bot

  1. Open raid-helper.dev and press the button to add it to Discord.
  2. Pick your server in the box Discord shows and press Continue.
  3. Review the permissions and press Authorize. It needs to read and post in your events channel.
  4. In Server Settings > Integrations > Raid-Helper, limit its commands to your officer roles if you don't want everyone creating events.

Post your first sign-up

  1. In your events channel, type / and choose Raid-Helper's create command.
  2. Pick a template that matches your game, or a general one, then set the title, date, time and a short description.
  3. Post it. Members sign up by choosing their class or role, and the post fills in as they do.
  4. Use the bot's web dashboard at raid-helper.dev to edit events, change templates and set reminders.

Tips from guilds that run raids every week

  • Post recurring raids at the same time each week so people plan around them.
  • Turn on reminders shortly before start time; they cut no-shows.
  • Keep a bench or tentative option so leaders can see who might fill a gap.
  • Pin a message that explains roles and sign-up rules.
